Axelera AI, the leading provider of purpose-built AI hardware acceleration technology for generative AI and computer vision inference, today announced the availability and worldwide shipments of its Metis Evaluation Kits. The Kits are available in a variety of vision-ready form factors suitable for both x86 and ARM architectures, including industrial PCs from Advantech, IT market solutions from leaders such as Dell and Lenovo, as well as an embedded system from Firefly. Each system is enhanced with a pre-release version of the Metis AI Processing Unit on a PCIe card, accompanied by the Voyager Software Development Kit.
The Metis Evaluation Kits include x86 and ArmRM host systems with preinstalled Metis PCIe accelerator card and Voyager SDK, supporting developers to quickly build, tune and bring to market edge AI applications, such as multi-channel video analytics, quality inspection and people monitoring. Pre-loaded with state-of-the-art detection and classification neural networks, including YOLOv5 and YOLOv7, the Metis platform enables freedom to innovate by leveraging industry-leading combination of high frame rates and top-accuracy AI processing, all at a fraction of the cost and power consumption of traditional GPU-based solutions.

Together with System Electronics and SECO, Axelera AI will showcase the innovative Order Flow Assist solution at Embedded World. Powered by Axelera AI’s Metis processing unit, the system will significantly enhance efficiency and safety for automated warehouse systems and logistics. Harnessing the power of sophisticated AI vision, the system utilizes precise hand keypoint detection, identification of objects picked, and a real-time user interface connected to the warehouse management system to enhance quality and efficiency, while reducing human errors, time needed to train workers and stress in the workplace.
In collaboration with Fogsphere, Axelera AI is enhancing workplace safety by enabling real-time monitoring of safety gear usage in work areas. This includes identifying unauthorized absence or failure to wear the necessary helmets and vests. The Metis platform allows Fogsphere to enable a multitude of use-cases, ranging from access control and emergency management to behavioral safety, PPE monitoring and emerging AIoT applications.
